Talk to the nurse about special details or messages to pass along in the meeting.

Mentally prepare to listen and speak with the person.

1.

Introduce yourself as the PHO and that you’re there to support the person.

  • You know me as ____ and you might know I’m our community’s PHO.

  • As the PHO, I’m here to help you and support the health of our community.

2.

Identify the situation.

  • The person did ______ test for TB.

  • Explain that the test result showed no signs of TB.

  • So the nurse just read your skin test. The results of your skin test show no TB and because you don’t have any other TB symptoms, we don’t think you have TB.

3.

Identify next steps.

  • Give reminder about future TB investigations.

  • Give reminder if they have TB symptoms (refer to Active TB “Common Symptomsas needed), they can always come and see a TB nurse.

  • Just as a reminder, the clinic might call you again if you have been in contact with another person who has Active TB.

  • And if you’re feeling sick and think it might be TB, you can always come and see us again.
